The service was released in May 2009, the service is a very advanced Computational Knowledge Search Engine answers your questions and solves your problems, yes I know what you will say, Google makes it (sometimes) but this engine does not do it like Google (searches the web) a huge amount of information (about 10 trillions peace) is stored locally and then accessed through more than 50 thousands of Algorithms.
Some of problems that WolframAlpha solves:

Also it has a number of tools like ability to save search results to a .pdf file and customizing your page and other tools like toolbars, add-ons, gadgets, etc.

Really it is great but the information sometime is wrong I think they need to preview information more.
